Objective:

This workshop is designed to expose and impact practical knowledge to participants on environmental sample analysis. In addition, the practical use of analytical equipment such as AAS, FLAME & UV Visible Spectrophotometer will be demonstrated, not excluding equipment trouble shooting and maintenance.

  • Basic and advanced concepts of Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, Flame photometer and UV-Visible  Spectrophotometer
  • Basic calculations in spectrophotometric analysis
  • Different methods of sample and standard preparations for environmental spectrophotometric analysis
  • Principles, operations and applications of AAS, flame photometer and UV/Visible spectrophotometer for environmental analysis
  • Calibration of AAS, flame photometer and UV/Visible spectrophotometer with standards
  • Environmental analysis
  • The use of AAS, flame photometer and UV-Vis Spectrometer for metal oxides analysis e.g Fe2O3, MgO, P2O5 etc
  • Good Laboratory Practice
  • Validation and Data Interpretation
  • Trouble shooting and maintenance of AAS, flame and UV/Visible Spectrophotometer.
  • Installation methods for AAS etc.
  • Operational techniques for AAS, etc.

Furthermore, participants will gain an understanding of the implementation of the management system based on the standard and also enhance their competence and productivity at their various positions.

  • Holders of Bachelors Degree/Higher National Diploma in Science Laboratory Technology    
  • Licenced & Certified members of the Nigeria Institute of Science Laboratory   Technology (NISLT)            
  • Degree holders in biological, physical and chemical sciences               
  • Other users of science equipment

Objective:

Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology in collaboration with National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) wishes to announce the training workshop on the use of basic science laboratory equipment and also on how to  put in place, improve and maintain laboratory quality systems that meet the requirements of ISO/IEC17025 and other standards. The course also gives essential knowledge required for Laboratory Quality Managers to prepare laboratories for audit and accreditation.

This training workshop will cover the correct operational use of basic science laboratory equipment and management, technical aspects requirements of ISO 17025, and the development of management and technical procedures for laboratory documentation enhancement.
